Policy Advocacy & Community Engagement

Working with government agencies and nonprofit leaders to effectively collaborate with and build mechanisms for accountability to community organizations.

Prior experience includes:

• Designing the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness’ citywide neighborhood canvassing campaign to increase equitable COVID-19 vaccine access.

• Engage with federal, state, and local agencies and partner with regional NGOs to advocate for tribal clients, securing tens of thousands of dollars in financial assistance for households for home repairs and personal property for the Indigenous Resilience Disaster Case Management Program.

• Facilitate outreach and political alignment with community-based partners and organized labor networks on the proposed Gibbstown LNG terminal for the Natural Resources Defense Council’s NY Regional Team.

Facilitation

Designing facilitated processes to ensure the integration of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in policy advocacy.

Prior experience includes:

• Facilitating a year-long coaching program for the Natural Resources Defense Council supporting senior organizational leaders to integrate JEDI into their substantive advocacy.

• Designing and facilitating a strategic planning process for NOLA Ready.

Grant writing

Writing grants and conducting funding prospect research for a variety of nonprofit clients, including Catskill Mountainkeeper, Lowlander Center, and First Peoples’ Conservation Council of Louisiana.
